An Adaptive Two-Dimensional Mesh Refinement Method for the Problems in Fluid Engineering

چکیده
Mesh generation is one of the key issues in Computational Fluid Dynamics. This paper presents an adaptive three-dimensional mesh refinement method based on the law of mass conservation. The method can be used to a governing system that includes the law of mass conservation (continuity equation) for incompressible or compressible steady flows. We show one example that demonstrates the refined mesh presents the velocity field accurately.

An Adaptive Physics-Based Method for the Solution of One-Dimensional Wave Motion Problems
In this paper, an adaptive physics-based method is developed for solving wave motion problems in one dimension (i.e., wave propagation in strings, rods and beams). The solution of the problem includes two main parts. In the first part, after discretization of the domain, a physics-based method is developed considering the conservation of mass and the balance of momentum. In the second part, ada...
متن کاملAerodynamic shape optimization using adaptive remeshing
Adaptive mesh refinement is one of the most important tools in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for solving complex engineering design problems. The paper investigates two practical transonic aerofoil design optimization problems using a genetic algorithm coupled with an Euler aerodynamic analysis tool. The first problem consists in the minimization of transonic drag whereas the second is a r...
متن کاملCover interpolation functions and h-enrichment in finite element method
This paper presents a method to improve the generation of meshes and the accuracy of numerical solutions of elasticity problems, in which two techniques of h-refinement and enrichment are used by interpolation cover functions. Initially, regions which possess desired accuracy are detected. Mesh improvment is done through h-refinement for the elements existing in those regions. Total error of th...
متن کاملA 3D adaptive mesh moving scheme
This paper presents an adaptive mesh moving technique for three-dimensional (3D) fluid flow problems that involve moving fluid boundaries and fluid–solid interfaces. Such mesh moving techniques are an essential ingredient of fluid–structure interaction methods that typically employ arbitrary Lagrangian– Eulerian (ALE) frameworks. In the ALE frame, the velocity field representing motion of the u...
متن کاملNew adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
